Abide Taskan

As a clinical neuropsychologist, having obtained a master's degree in Neuropsychology and Cognitive Development at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, I support children and adolescents in understanding their cognitive functioning. My goal is to help them exploit their potential and regain confidence and serenity.

My approach

During the first consultation, I assess the needs of the child or adolescent in detail through an in-depth interview, in order to identify their strengths and difficulties. This step allows me to propose adapted neuropsychological assessments, which may include the evaluation of the intelligence quotient, attention, executive functions (inhibition, planning, flexibility) and memory, etc. In addition to executive function disorders, such as dysexecutive syndrome, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, developmental coordination disorder (dyspraxia) and specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dysorthography, dyscalculia, dysgraphia), I am also aware of dysproprioception, a disorder of the perception of the body in space.

Personalized support and collaboration

Depending on the results, I offer personalized support to support learning and make patients' daily lives easier. This may include school adjustments, adapted strategies, and specific interventions. If necessary, I refer to other specialized professionals (speech therapists, clinical psychologists, psychomotor therapists, occupational therapists, specialist doctors, posturologists) for comprehensive care. I work closely with families, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent support. In short, my practice is centered on understanding, attentive listening, and teamwork with the patient and their entourage, to offer personalized and caring support.

Continuing education and scientific approach

I attach importance to continuing education in order to stay informed of advances in the field of psychology and to adapt my practices accordingly and to maintain as much as possible an approach based on reliable scientific research (evidence based practice).

Languages and availability

I offer my consultations mainly in French. However, during the appointments for anamnesis, restitution of results as well as during the care, it is possible to communicate in English or Turkish according to the needs of the families. The neuropsychological assessments, for their part, are carried out exclusively in French in order to guarantee the reliability of the assessments. I currently consult at the Demey 104 Center on Tuesdays and at the SouverainMed Medical/Paramedical Center on Fridays.
